Well, hello 2017! It’s been a hot minute since I posted… way back before Christmas. I admit that with the holidays, getting back into the swing of things at the office, plus a weekend trip to Savannah, the blog took a longer than planned hiatus. I had all these great 2016 wrap-up posts half drafted, but since I kinda missed the boat on that timing, I’ll skip straight ahead to 2017.
First, a quick recap of what I accomplished in 2016 (you can check out my 2016 home goals here).
- Refreshed the hall bath
- Participated in two One Room Challenges, completing the guest room/office and the laundry closet/hallway
- Created a long term plan for our master bedroom
- Updated fixtures in the hallway, entry and laundry room, and continued to replace outlets and switches
- Repainted the exterior, updated the deck/porch
- Painted the hallway and kitchen (you can read about my new main paint color here)
Wow, when you put it like that… no wonder I needed a break! Taking a look at 2017, we have a few projects in mind, but overall it’s more about tweaking and updating. The goal for this year is to create a calm, relaxing and welcoming home. On my radar:
- Finish the master bedroom. I bought a couple pieces in the fall, but once the One Room Challenge started, everything else went out the window. Time to wipe the dust off and get to it.
- Update the living room. I’ve been researching new accent chairs, and we’re in desperate need of a new rug.
- Install kitchen shelving in the nook. I’ve run out of room for cookbooks so it’s time for more storage
- Makeover the second guest bedroom. I’m smelling a spring ORC …
- Continue to work on the outside. We started making progress last year, and I thought I found a landscape architect, but she went MIA sometime over the summer. Then we had a drought in the fall so there was no use in planting anything.
We’re also super close on the reveal for my parents’ master bedroom and I hope to share that soon. There are also quite a few furniture makeovers in the pipeline, along with some DIYs.
