Our third wedding anniversary was this past April, which also means we just celebrated our 3rd anniversary of buying our house! To celebrate, I thought it would be fun to take a look back to see how much things changed.
For those of you new here, the past three years included a kitchen renovation, a master bath renovation, removing popcorn ceilings, new floors, paint and more! During that time, my style also evolved and so many of these rooms are on version 2 or 3 😉
First up, we’ll look at the kitchen renovation. This was our first major renovation and it took about 8 weeks to complete. Demo started 2.5 weeks after we got back from our honeymoon.
Disclosure: some of the before pics are from the listing, and some are bad shots from my old phone. It’s also fun to see how much I’ve learned about photography since starting the blog …
You can read the full before and after here, along with my five tips for kitchen renovations.

As you can see, the biggest change we made was to open up the kitchen. We extended the back counter along the wall (where the large piece of furniture is in the above photo) and added a long, narrow island.
From an entertaining perspective, the layout is awesome. I can be one side cooking, while other folks are sitting at the bar. For big parties, we do a buffet on here or set-up the bar.

The main thing that changed is the paint color. You can read all about that here. The current color is Sherwin Williams Anew Gray at 75%.
Besides learning how to take better indoor photography, I also “accessorize” a little more. This is the best spot for plants in my house as well. The window over the sink faces Northwest and gets indirect sunlight all day long.
The wall below hasn’t changed, but the new paint color looks so much better.
What’s next? I’m planning to switch out the curtain hardware at some point to black to match what’s in the living room now (from Ikea). I also still want to add some open shelves to the right of the pantry. You can’t see it in these pictures, but there’s a little nook between the last of the cabinets and the wall. I also may replace the bar stools if I can find ones I love.
How do your rooms evolve? What updates are you hoping to make?

It’s really beautiful. So light and airy and a great space to work in and entertain too! Great re-design!
