Now that our back deck is painted and ready to go for summer, I set-up a fun outdoor entertaining tablescape to enjoy the backyard. Time to sit back and admire all of the hard work that went into getting the yard ready for summer! I’ll also share a quick tour of the rest of the outdoor space, including all the plants and flowers for this year.
Tablescape
The table is a purchase from the consignment store not long after we moved and the chairs are from Lowe’s. I’m on the hunt for a rectangular dining table as I think it will fit the space better, but I’m in no rush. If I’m really dreaming, some of these bistro-style chairs look amazing! I temporarily stole some of the pillows from the screened porch to add some more color to the table.
For the decor, I added some new blue glass plates that are a recent purchase from Tuesday Morning, along with existing yellow napkins (same ones used for Easter & Mother’s Day) and some super cute outdoor green & white trellis plates, also from Tuesday Morning. The table runner is a purchase from the Williams-Sonoma outlet, and the glasses were a wedding gift.
The yellow flowers in mason jars finish off the bright and cheerful table setting.
Bench & Plants
The bench is in a new home on the other side of the deck, and the bakers rack with the herbs is now over by the grill. After a quick coat of spray paint, and the placement of another rug, the little seating area is ready to go.
In terms of plants, I’m still figuring out what works and what doesn’t. This year, I went with bright shades of Vinca, which are really hard to kill! They are very hearty flowers that come in various pinks and whites – as long as they get water, they can stand the summer Georgia heat! The pink Vinca are paired with bright yellow marigolds, and I’m pleased to say that so far, so good.
We’ll see how many I kill before the summer ends – I have a bad habit of being really good at watering them the first part of the summer and then giving up come late July. For the hanging plants, I purchased one begonia, a geranium and a fern. All are doing well 🙂
Other Updates
Is anyone else obsessed with garden stools? I love these so much, but the price tag shocked me a bit. These cute metal ones from Lowe’s do the trick and I purchased two – one in white for the stone patio and one in blue for the screened porch. The screened porch garden stool is the perfect place to set a cocktail 😉
In the side yard, we planted two more hydrangea plants and I can’t wait to see them grow! The one from last year is doing really well! Loving all the big, blue blooms.
Welcome, summer!

Your tablescape is so pretty; I love the color scheme you selected. I have been wanting a couple of those little stools for my deck too, but I am with you on why do they have to be soooo expensive?

Thank you, Mary! I know – those prices seem crazy to me to spend on a stool, but they are so darn cute!

Your patio looks amazing! The colors you’ve chosen are great together. How lucky that you found your table at a consignment store. I wouldn’t think to look there for outdoor furniture.
Thank you so much for sharing this with Thoughts of Home on Thursday. Pinning. 🙂

Thanks, Stacey! There’s a great consignment store not too far from my house (Furniture Consignment Depot if you’re ever in Atlanta). I’ve gotten a ton of stuff there since we moved in!
