As I started to think about spring updates for the house, I realized that I kind of jumped the gun way back in January in the living room, adding greenery and some spring colors. Have I mentioned I hate winter? But I did add some springy decor to the kitchen last week, and made a few other updates. The biggest change was downplaying the red accent for a few months, but I’m sure I’ll bring it back for the 4th of July and in the fall. Right now, I’m liking the blue accents.
Side note: isn’t amazing how tastes change over the years? Blue used to be one of my least favorite colors to wear and to decorate with, but now I love it! I’m planning to use some shades of blue in the guest room makeover, and navy dominates the living room as well as my closet 😉
I swapped out the red tray at the coffee bar, for a wood tray I had on hand and found some cute new cream & sugar from Homegoods. To the left, I added a few of my farmhouse canisters. The larger one hides the agave nectar for coffee, one of the smaller one has peppercorns and the third one is empty right now. I used one more to the right of the coffee maker to hold tea bags (not pictured).
On the stove and fridge, I added some bright fun hand towels, bringing in lots of fun colors. A large silver platter is currently serving as the backdrop behind the oven (the same one I used for the Thanksgiving centerpiece).
I also swapped out a stainless utensil holder for this pretty white crock that was a Marshall’s find. And while the azalea’s are in bloom, I’m trying to use these as much as possible. We have white and pink, and I thought the white looked great in the kitchen.
To the right, the blue Le Creuset batter bowl has been a great place to house my weekly stash of clementines. The Atlanta cutting board was a Christmas gift and it’s a fun piece too.
