Welcome back! I know it’s been a hot minute since my last post, but I’ll be honest. While I love the One Room Challenge and the end result, it takes a lot out of me and I needed a bit of a break. However, I’m thrilled to be back and even more fun, I’m excited to share my red, white and blue 4th of July tablescape! Today’s tablescape is part of a summer blog hop, so make sure to visit the links at the end of the post for more inspiration.
Red, White & Blue 4th of July Tablescape
The other reason I’ve been a little quiet is that I went on a shopping hiatus in the month of May, inspired by John and Sherry at Young House Love. It worked so well, that I’m continuing to hold back on purchasing new home decor items for June too! This means that I needed to be creative for creating this patriotic table setting. I allowed myself to buy some flowers, but otherwise, my challenge was to use only items I had on hand.

That’s a really long way of me saying that you’ve seen all of these elements before. Which I love, because that’s how we all live, right? I don’t have the funds to go out and purchase new dishes or glassware every time I want to entertain. I am lucky that loving dishes runs in the family as I’m able to borrow some from my mom.
Lucky for me, red, white and blue is a pretty classic combination and I was quickly able to gather some patriotic decor. I layered classic white plates, with cobalt glass plates (mine are from Tuesday morning, but similar are available here). On top, I added some red linen napkins, tied with twine.
In each napkin, I tucked a little hydrangea bloom from our backyard to add some dimension and texture. No, they didn’t last long, but sure were pretty while they did!
Centerpiece
The centerpiece is super simple for this red, white and blue 4th of July tablescape. I purchased a few small bouquets of hydrangea from Publix, and placed one, two or three in a variety of vases. The great thing about hydrangea is that the blooms are so large, you don’t need very many to make a big impact.
I used a mix of milk glass and clear glass vases, with varying heights. I pretty much grouped all my vases on the dining table until I found a mix that I liked. Don’t be afraid to experiment!
The seersucker table runner is from HomeGoods, but I found one for you here. The wine glasses are World Market, and are a more recent purchase (but not in May ;). I realized I didn’t own six matching wine glasses, and after receiving two of these as a gift for Christmas, I went back and bought four more. Worth every penny!
And the rest of the dining room got a little decor as well. The banner and USA signs are Target Dollar Spot from a few years ago.

The hydrangeas are beautiful! I would love to have some in my backyard to use for decorating with! I need to look into that! 🙂 I love that you used what you already had on hand, I like to do that as well. I think a lot of times people think they need everything new and overlook what they already have.

You can never go wrong with Hydrangea displayed in Milk Glass! Your Patriotic table is really pretty and perfect for a 4th of July celebration. I always shop my home first and prefer to use what I have too.
