ORC Week 5: New Hallway Bench

November 3, 2016 By: lovelandlodge5 Comments

One more week until the big reveal! This week, lots of little things (and some big) got done and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I ran into a few obstacles this week, the main one being that the rug I bought is too wide for the hallway with the new bench. But not too worry! The pretty jute rug from Rugs USA is now in the kitchen and two more options are on the way from Target. Make sure to visit Calling It Home for all of this week’s updates. And plan to find some time next week to look at all the amazing reveals! You can check out my progress to date:

What did I do this week?

Hall Bench

new hallway bench

The hallway bench I ordered from Etsy arrived and it looks great. It’s the perfect length, width and color. So pretty!

Cabinet

I have the cabinet all painted and ready to go, minus a few touch ups once it goes on the wall. The color is Sailor from Sherwin Williams. Now, I’m looking for someone to hang the cabinet … like now!

Little Details

I also started on some of the smaller details. New hooks are now hung for the few brooms, Swiffers, etc. that we’re keeping in the laundry closet. And… here’s a sneak peek of the hidden water heater. It’s by no means covered 100 percent but it looks a million times better than it did.

Operation hide the electrical panel also commenced, but I’m saving that reveal for next week. Let’s just say me and the staple gun spent some time together on Sunday. Husband and I headed to Lowe’s and bought all of the wood for the laundry room shelves and plywood for the plank in the hallway. The knobs on the bi-fold doors were also switched out for some new, heavier black ones. Such a little change makes a big difference!

Black hardware on the bifold doors

In addition to getting the cabinet hung this week, I also need to stain all of the wood and do the installation. This includes hanging the brackets, plank, hooks and towel racks. We shall see if all comes together!
