One Room Challenge Update Week 4: Eeks!

April 28, 2016 By: lovelandlodgecomment

Welcome to the 4th update in for the One Room Challenge! You can check out parts one, two and three on my guest bedroom/office makeover. And, be sure to run over to Calling it Home to check on this week’s feature designers and guest blogger updates too.

We’re getting very close to “crunch time” for the ORC. There are two weekends left before the big reveal on May 12 and I still have a ton to do. I went out of town last weekend (a recap of my whirlwind weekend at Magic Kingdom and Universal Studios coming soon!), but had Monday and Tuesday off to try and get a few things done. Salvation Army comes on Saturday to finally get the dresser out of the room, which is the biggest thing I’m waiting on.

I did finish the shelf update (the ugly from last week’s post) and hid the back part by using some pretty fabric I found in the remnant section of Hobby Lobby. All-in, it was a $3 fix so I’ll call it a win! On my Hobby Lobby excursion, I also picked up two metal sconces to flank the picture frame above the bed, and a cute burlap throw pillow.

The after on the shelf

A quick look at the before:

Plain black shelf

I returned the too big lampshades to Wal-mart and got the smaller size, which are just right (channeling Goldilocks). I’m still waiting for a different curtain panel to come in, but it should be here by Friday.

I’m also *this close* to being done with painting. I finished up changing the picture frame from black to white, and am almost done painting the shelves from oak laminate to French Linen. I’m a little relieved to be putting the paint brush away soon!

Not keeping the poster inside the frame but gave the wood a coat of Old White

The big things to be done this week are:

  • Move furniture into place (FINALLY)
  • Hang blinds/curtain rod
  • Finish painting shelves/hang shelves
  • Frame new botanical print poster
  • Go to my parents’ house and pick-up China/hang China
  • Decide if I want any other art/feature on the 3rd wall
  • Trip to Ikea for pillows/possible wall art
  • Styling 🙂

Getting close now - hoping to show some big transformations next week!
