Before I bid a final adieu to the Spring 2016 One Room Challenge (full reveal), hosted by Calling it Home, I wanted to quickly share a full source list for the makeover of the guest bedroom/office. A lot of the pieces were existing pieces that I was able to repurpose for the room with some fresh accents or a coat of paint. I think the biggest expense I had ended up being the paint for the walls (it would’ve been the bedding, if it hadn’t been given as a gift), but the little things added up too. Here’s a quick rundown:
Paint Colors:
- Walls: Repose Gray by Sherwin Williams
- Desk & Bookcase Exterior: Paris Grey by Annie Sloan, with dark wax by Valspar
- Bookcase interior: Custom mix of Paris Grey & Greek Blue by Annie Sloan, with dark wax
- Shelves: French Linen by Annie Sloan, with dark wax
Wall Decor:
- Sconces: Hobby Lobby (50% off)
- Frame: Existing, but originally purchased at Kohl’s many moons ago
- Botanical Print: Free download & purchased a poster size at Vista Print
- Dogwood art/mirror: Marshall’s
- Plate wall: Grandma’s China & the plate hangers were purchased at Lowes
- Wall Shelves & Brackets: Lowes
Furniture: I re-used almost all of the existing pieces in this room, with the exception of the dresser, which was donated.
- Desk: Purchased at a Hotel Furniture Outlet for $35
- Bookcase: Wal-mart a very very long time ago (it’s held up amazingly well!)
- Wicker chest by the window: Homegoods
- TV stand/now a bench: Pier 1
- Secretary Desk: Antique
- Bed frame: Existing; the place I purchased this about 7 years ago is no longer in business
Bedding:
- Sheets: Tuesday Morning
- Duvet Cover: JC Penney (several years ago)
- Coverlet: Kohls (really pleased with this – it’s so soft!)
- Throw pillows: Existing
- Fleur di Lis Pillow: Hobby Lobby
Other:
- Curtain & Curtain Rod: Wal-mart
- Lampshades: Wal-Mart
- Lamps: Target (long time ago!)
- Rug: Joss & Main/Safavieh SoHo rug (link on Overstock here)
- Accessories: Target & Ross
And that’s it! I really tried to use what I had for this makeover and not buy too much new. It’s a great lesson to find creative ways to use existing items. I was able to find a home for a few pieces that were sitting in drawers or closets. like the masquerade mask that was a souvenir from my bachelorette party in New Orleans, or the really pretty butter dish that my mom’s cousin gave me. Goes to show that thinking of using existing items in new ways (like pretty salt & pepper shakers as decor) can go a long way in saving some money.
