Not too long ago, we replaced two of the three outdoor lights with new outdoor lighting. This doesn’t include the flood lights, but does include the outdoor lighting by the front door and on the back side of the house. The two lights we replaced are both motion-sensor lights, with a dusk to dawn setting.
Before replacing two of the lights, none of the finishes matched. The light by the front door was silver; the one on the back deck was white and the one on the stone patio was black. Now, while we still have one more to go, they at least all are black.
We are loving the dusk to dawn setting. The old lights didn’t have this setting, and also couldn’t be turned on by anything except for a motion sensor. Which was a slight issue by the front door. Because of the way the light faces, the motion sensor didn’t trigger the light until you were pretty much next to it. If we had guests at night, there was zero light for them to see the front door.
The new outdoor lighting has a much wider range for motion sensor, so the lights turn on when they are supposed to. Plus, there is a setting to turn the light fully on, if needed.
We purchased our lights at Lowes for $50 a piece, plus hired an electrician to install. The reviews were somewhat questionable, but I liked the look and price. They do take a slightly smaller bulb, but as long as you buy the right size, there are no issues.
Have you bought outdoor lighting? Do you prefer motion sensor or regular lights?
