The shortest month of the year has come and gone at the Loveland Lodge, and with March, I’m so ready for Spring to here! I’m hoping for some nice spring weather this month before the pine pollen hits in early April and sends me back indoors for a week or so. The February weather was all over the place – some cold days, and some gorgeous ones, which is pretty typical for Georgia this time of year. Here’s what I was up to this last month and what I’m hoping to tackle in March.
- Sugar Cookies: I kicked off February sharing one of my the recipes that means so much to me, my grandma’s sugar cookie recipe. I also managed to eat WAY too many of these, but had a blast baking them.
- Candlestick Makeover: There were some free weekends in February and I took advantage of the time and scouted a few near-by flea market/antique shops to see what I could find. The results of my efforts were two sets of candle sticks – one dark wood pair and one brass pair. I took some French Linen paint and gave the larger ones a quick makeover for the mantle. I’m still loving them! The brass candlesticks need some more work and I’m not too sure about using them by TV, but am hoping to share those this month.
- Frugal Friday & Look for Less: Browsing online is always a nighttime pleasure and of course, I have to share what I find. The month’s Frugal Friday looked at some good deals on Spring decor and fashion, including this super cute necklace from the J. Crew outlet (I *heart* mint green). I also rounded up some affordable botanical prints with different colors and styles.
- Hall Bath Renovation Update: This is where the majority of my DIY time went in February and I’m excited to share the results with you on Sunday for the HomeTalk My DIY Spring blog roundup! From painting the vanity, to re-caulking the sink, new artwork, beadboard, etc., lots of little details went into updating this very small room on a budget.
For March, I’ll be sharing some more details on the bathroom beyond the reveal, including a budget breakdown, lessons learns, and more. I’ll also be sharing some spring related posts, such as plans for the backyard, potential paint colors for the exterior, and a little bit of St. Patrick’s Day and Easter decor. From the DIY perspective, below are the items on my priority list:
- Begin working on Master Bedroom updates
- Hang shelving in kitchen
- Mailbox makeover
Happy spring to everyone!
