I’ve been scouring the internet for some wallet-friendly lighting options and wanted to share what I’ve found so far. If I only had to replace one light, it wouldn’t be too much of an issue, but I have four to replace – two in the hallway, one in the foyer and one in the laundry room closet. The poor laundry closet light isn’t even a fixture – it’s currently a light bulb hanging from the ceiling.
And, of course, in those spaces, the ceilings are standard 8 ft. ceilings so I need to keep height in mind. For the foyer, I want something eye catching, but not too big. For the hallway, I’m looking for something with more light – the halls are really dark and I’d love a 3 bulbs in the fixtures to help with that problem. For the laundry closet, I just want something other than a light bulb hanging from my (unpainted) ceiling. Below are the ones I have my eye on. I’ll likely end up replacing the foyer first and maybe the laundry room, and then move on to the hallway.
- Capital Lighting Midtown 3-light from Overstock: ($137) These might be a great hallway option. We need something close to the ceiling, but it’d be great to have some more light in these areas. The fabric shade softens it a bit too.
- Livex Lighting Heritage from Lowes ($199.90): I love this one and can absolutely see it in our foyer – I really think for me, it’s between this one and the Ballard Design one below. I like the openness of the fixture, plus that you can hang it flush mount if you have lower ceilings.
- Sea Gull Academy Light from Lowes: ($135) The school house look is so fun and it could be a great option for the laundry room, where we only need one light. It’s got a touch of vintage and is a very classic choice.
- Celestial Light from Overstock.com ($163,99): I think this one is more modern than I want to go, but I liked the fact that it had four lights and could be a really interesting focal point in a small foyer. The height is also a touch high for our ceilings, but if you had a little more height than the standard 8 feet, this could be a great option.
- Ballard Designs Orb Chandelier (Petite): ($179) In my head, I always think of Ballard being out of my budget, but if you catch a good sale, they do have some really affordable options. My favorite is this orb chandelier (which many other people love too!) and since we need the smallest size, it’s within my price range. Again, the openness of the fixture, like the ones from Lowes, makes it a showstopper but perfect for a small foyer.
What is your go-to resource for budget-friendly lighting options?

Number 5 is my favourite. Reminds of a Copernicus globe – awesome! 🙂

That’s my favorite too! I think it’s “the one” for the foyer – plus love not having to clean any glass!

Number 5 is awesome, but I have a school house light in my office and enjoy the traditional, classic look.

I agree! Both are great options.
