Summer is slowly winding down, but the weather certainly isn’t any cooler! I’m ready for cool evenings, boots and of course, college football. I finally put away the 4th of July decor (guilty!), and created a pretty table setting, taking away the red, white and blue. I used sunflowers as the centerpiece in a pretty new blue and white piece I picked up at Homegoods for a late summer table setting to transition into fall.
Table Setting
I used the same yellow and green table runner that I used for the summer deck table setting and the Masters celebration too. Love that I picked this one up at the Williams Sonoma outlet earlier this spring for $10! The candlesticks are painted using French Linen and Greek Blue chalk paint (see the originals here).
The accent plates are from World Market and they bring the blue, yellow and green together. I also picked up some new navy linen napkins. I don’t really love to wash (aka iron) the napkins, but I really like the look of cloth napkins.
I picked the sunflowers up at the grocery store and they lasted a good week before they started to wilt. Sadly, I went to buy more, but there weren’t any left.
Side note – I didn’t really understand the appeal of blue and white until recently. Now, I can’t get enough! I always thought it was pretty, but didn’t really see how it could work in my house. Two huge inspirations for using more blue and white came from Citrine Living and Casa Watkins Living. Both of these awesome bloggers have different styles, but both do such a great job of incorporating blue and white pieces into their homes. Viewing their posts really showed me that blue and white can be used in so many ways. Admittedly, it always felt a little too traditional for my style. I’ve loving figuring out ways I can incorporate blue and white pieces that feel like “me.”
How are you starting to transition from summer to fall? With it still being 90+, I’m not quite ready to break out the fall decor, but am loving this more transitional period. The leaves will start dropping soon enough!

Beautiful!! I’m definitely a fan of that centerpiece! Beautiful ginger jar and it looks superb with the sunflowers. I’ll have to go pick some up soon. 🙂
