I’m not really one to switch up seasonal decor. I might change a few things up here and there, but I really only go all out for Christmas. However, last weekend, we finally had a nip in the air and got in the fall mood. I’ve also been inspired by all the great fall home tours that I’ve seen online the past few weeks, though part of me wonders where people store all those pumpkins!
My first instinct was to make the rounds at Hobby Lobby, Target and Home Goods to buy a few new items and see what I could add. I still might do that at some point, but first I thought I should “shop at home” and use what I already had before I went out and bought new things. Plus, I have a beautiful wood carved pumpkin somewhere and I don’t want to buy a new one! I haven’t seen it since before our move, but I’m bound and determined to find that thing before fall ends.
My first stop on my “shop at home” trip was our front door. I removed summer ribbon and flowers from the grapevine wreath I got at Hobby Lobby and added a fun “M” in fall colors that friends gave us as a house-warming gift. I also had some burlap ribbon on hand that I used last year and for Christmas so got that out again.
Next stop was my serving wear. We got so many great pieces for our wedding, but I had one specifically in mind. The mother of one of my mom’s best friends gave us the great vintage Italian platter that she got for her wedding (maybe in the 40s?). I’ve not really had a place to display it, but when I looked at it again, I realized that the colors were right in line with my favorite fall colors of burgundy, blue and gold. I placed it behind the stove to bring some autumn to the kitchen.
Finally, I took a stroll in the backyard and gathered some pine cones. This might be the only time I wish we had more pine trees so I could’ve gathered more pine cones (we took out 13 pine trees earlier in the summer).
I took these out front and grabbed 3 cans of Rust-Oleum spray paint in copper, brown metal and white. After a quick spray job, I played around with where they’d look best. I didn’t have quite enough to fill my large glass bowl, but there were too many to fill some of the smaller vases and bowls I had. I finally landed on the stained utensil caddie basket – now it has 3 uses! I placed these on our console table in the living room. As pine cones continue to fall in the backyard, I may switch to a larger bowl, but for now, I love this little basket. I think the copper pine cones are my favorite!
As the weather cools and Halloween approaches, I’ll probably add a few more items here and there, but I’m finally getting in the autumn spirit! Where is my Pumpkin Spice Latte?

I love the idea of spray painting pine cones! I may have to go searching for some for our house! As for my own home-shopping adventures, I got some fall and Halloween decorations from my mom a few years ago but could never figure out how to use them. This year I got a bunch of them out, filled up the large plastic black cauldron with fake fall leaves and flowers and arranged some of the fabric pumpkins around it. I would love to add some more fall decor though!

Thank you! I don’t have the storage space (or the money!) to do a total overhaul for every season, but it’s nice to add a few touches here and there. Thanks for commenting too!
