While we’re not hosting Easter brunch this year, I still thought it would be fun to decorate the dining room with a cheerful Easter tablescape to bring some spring decor to the house. After decorating with neutral colors and milk glass for post-Christmas, I was ready to bring back some color to the dining room. My typical formula for a tablescape includes:
1. Seasonal table runner
2. Bowl/centerpiece with natural elements
3. My every-day dishes (Nortitake Colorwave in Chocolate)
4. Cloth napkins
From there, I switch things around as needed for the season and or sizing options. I always keep my Crate & Barrel placemats out (I love the shape). At Homegoods, I found this Nicole Miller table runner with a lot of really pretty spring pattern and the pretty blue plates. I try to stretch my budget and not purchase too much holiday-specific decor and go with things that can used throughout the season or for special events. I’ll likely use the same table runner and accent plates for Mother’s day, and it will come in handy when hosting bridal or baby showers in the future. We received the yellow napkins as a wedding present – and these along with some red ones (see Thanksgiving here) add a nice fun pop to the table.
For the centerpiece, I used a slightly smaller milk glass chip bowl (yes, I have two milk glass chip & dip sets – and two more silver ones – I have a problem, I know) and filled it with some natural moss balls from Hobby Lobby. I’d purchased these awhile back but they were living in the dish under the TV – they look much better here! The natural orbs I had in another vase, and I did purchase the eggs from World Market. I left the two milk glass candle sticks for a symmetrical look.
I also love to update the wine rack over the buffet with some seasonal elements. The Easter banner from World Market was the perfect touch, and the bird wreath replaced the eucalyptus wreath that I had there in the fall and winter. With such a neutral base, this has become my favorite room to change out with seasonal decor.
What room do you update the most?
