Two years ago this week, the hubs and I said “I do” on a beautiful spring day in Georgia, in front of our closest friends and family. It was absolutely a great day, and looking back is still so much fun. We had the ceremony in the church I grew up in, and then the reception was at a lovely historic home in downtown Roswell, outside of Atlanta. To celebrate, I thought it would be fun to share a few pictures of the day, particularly the details at the reception venue.
Kimball Hall is a historic, pretty white cottage, with lots of charm and vintage touches. The owner does a fantastic job of making every bride feel special, and I was amazed at all the details throughout the house on our wedding day. It really felt like we were in someone’s home having a huge party!
The venue’s florist was amazing (and affordable). I was really nervous about our flower budget, but had nothing the worry about. We did a lot of really pretty spring flowers – hydrangea, pink roses, rosemary, and pops of hot pink with heather.
I loved the vintage touches throughout the house – the white walls, wood floors and old, chippy furniture were all perfect. I also liked that you could make your wedding more spring garden party (which was what I leaned towards), more farmhouse rustic, or go full glam, depending on your taste (and budget ;).
My bouquet was peonies, pink garden roses, dusty miller and ranunculus. The bridesmaid bouquets matched the centerpieces pretty closely, and looked great against the navy bridesmaid dresses. My wedding definitely jump started my love of all things navy (as seen in my living room).
The huge front porch made this girl’s Southern heart swoon – the front porch swing made for a great photo opp, and I loved the dresser on the front porch as well. There was a really pretty courtyard to the left of the porch, where we had pre-dinner cocktails. And, the backyard, which is where outdoor ceremonies take place, is also stunning. Our photographer, Alison Church, was great to work with and took so many gorgeous photos!
In lieu of a big cake, we did a dessert table with various kinds of cakes, pies and tarts. I loved the way this ended up looking, and was a pretty big cost saver for us too. I’m not a huge fan of wedding cake, but I love a good red velvet so it was nice to have different options. I also used several of the cake stands I’d received as wedding gifts, which was really special to have those included.
The ballroom had a gorgeous large centerpiece at the main table, which overlooked the backyard.
I’ll end with my favorite photo from the day. The sun was shining through this huge oak tree and the photographer captured this moment so perfectly. Happy anniversary to my wonderful husband! I love you!
