I shared some sneak peeks on Instagram of our exterior paint job a few weeks ago and here are the first set of before and afters! I still have some more pics to take of the outside of the house, but I couldn’t wait any longer to share a few.
I’ll start with the back of the house and work our way around to the front. Truth is, I still need to do some decor to the front porch but I’m loving it so far.
A few months ago, I shared the colors I was considering for the main exterior, and of course, I chose none of those. After about, oh, 7 different test shades, it was my awesome husband who helped me make the final decision at the 11th hour (literally, I was at the gym and had a panic moment and called my husband to tell him to stop everything because I wasn’t sure about the color. Thanks honey!!). In the end, we chose a gray/brown color called Stonehenge Greige by Olympic, mixed in Sherwin Williams Duration. For the fence, deck posts and trim, I picked my favorite white from Sherwin Williams, Alabaster.
Before
As you can see, the before is very yellow – and there was a lot of it! The deck was also peeling really badly in places, so we also painted the bottom of the deck a solid stain color. I love the contrast now!
After
We also hung some new lights as the old ones blew a fuse during a big wind gust and stopped working. These are more heavy-duty, purchased from Costco and I’m hoping they last a little longer. The new 7×10 rug is from Target, a purchase during their Memorial Day sale. It’s more blue than I was expecting (I thought it would be more tan), but I still really like the color so it all worked out.

After
And the after with new accessories and this year’s plants.
Since the below pic was taken last summer, we added a Chimenea (which is covered) and the pillows are new from Costco for the Adirondack chairs. This space is definitely a work in progress, but I like how it’s coming together.
Before
The painters also pressure washed the stone ad I’m amazed at the difference!
After
Looking forward to showing you more of our exterior updates!

I really like the color! Great choice. I laughed as I read about your uncertainty, we’ve all been there. Lol
Have a great weekend,
Jenny

Thanks, Jenny! Our roof is brown (and that wasn’t changing!), which is what was throwing me off. I was so nervous because unlike interior, the exterior wasn’t going to be so easy to change if I messed up! Luckily, we got it right and the color makes the roof look more neutral brown vs. red-brown now too. Appreciate you stopping by!

I love your porch make over! We are in the midst of our own porch makeover. I am wandering over from The Creative Circle. Have a great weekend!

Thanks, Angela! Glad to have you visit 🙂 Enjoy your porch this summer! It’s already been too hot this week to sit outside in Atlanta, but hoping for some (slightly) cooler temps this weekend to enjoy it!

The simple addition of a rug under a table can make all the difference in the look of a room and giving it a cohesive look. Love what you have done! We have a three season screened porch and I did a make-over on it last summer for around a thousand dollars. I added a serving table and an additional rug to it this year. It’s sort of morphing as we go along. LOL Take your time and it will be exactly what you envision for your home. xo

Thank you Diane! I totally agree – rooms morph over time and that creates the best result.
